River Rush Bistro Construction Complete

New light will shine on students and staff thanks to the completed remodeling of the River Rush Bistro. The change in design eliminated the long, dark cafeteria hallway between the kitchen and the Bistro, replacing it with a glass wall on the east side.

ASUCC absorbed fifty percent of the construction costs plus 100 percent of the cost of new furniture at a total expense of $15,000, according to ASUCC President Ethan Snyder and Public Relations Officer Rena Bjerke.

“ASUCC made the choice to help fund the Bistro project after capital funding was cancelled over the last summer,” stated Snyder.

The cafeteria is not the only project the ASUCC is currently working on.

“Many of the things the ASUCC does are done indirectly,” said Snyder.

Scholarships are another way student government is helping students to achieve their goal of graduation. Projects offering scholarship money for UCC students are being created by ASUCC representatives. The scholarships programs set up by the student government will result in new scholarship revenues for students of $1000 each per year. Two such projects the ASUCC plan to create are a Class of 2012 scholarship and a Diversity scholarship, Snyder said.

“We chose this project to benefit students, the school and the community,” said Snyder.

Students who desire a professional atmosphere for lunch or dinner meetings with potential employers or friends and family on campus are now in luck. The Bistro will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m
